I’ve been wondering about this for a while and finally today I decided I’d get to the bottom of it (pun intended, lol)

First of all, a bit of clarification is in order. A g-string is a thong but a thong is not necessarily a g-string. The g-string is one particular style of thong that covers very little in the front. As for the sides and back, all there is is string, just so that the thing doesn’t fall to the ground. G strings are often referred to as butt floss; although it sounds kind of weird, it’s a pretty accurate description!

As for the real origin of the word g string, it’s obscure to say the least. According to one theory, there was an actual term “geestringi” that was used to refer to the string that held the loincloth of American Indians, and later referred to the narrow loincloth itself, which was then changed to the more english-sounding g-string

Another purported origin for the term is that it stands for groin string, because back then the word groin was considered taboo and wasn’t used in “polite” conversations.

Yet another theory says it’s an abbreviation for “girdle string”. In the 19th century, boys used to wear a “geestring”, from which a single strip of cloth runs between the limbs from front to back.” Back in the day, a girdle pretty much fit the above description.

Finally, some believe that the term was coined as a reference to the fact that the g-string is the lowest, darkest string on a musical instrument like the violin for example. The emphasis on this theory is on the word “low” — low note, low-cut underwear.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter where the word g string actually originates from. It’s everywhere today and is worn as intimate lingerie as well as swimwear. Even if you don’t feel like you could wear one on the beach, a g-string is a spicy little item of clothing that’s a must for making bedroom activities more “interesting”. You can go the see-through route when you’re feeling naughty, or just slip one on and pretend you’re just wearing it to sleep. The results will speak for themselves…

Why Are Thongs Called G-Strings?

Before you rush out and buy yourself a thong bikini, there’s a couple of things you have to watch out for first. You have to make sure that you’re not only slim, but also that your thighs and butt are in shape and toned. That’s because by design, the thong offers very little coverage, be it in front, the back, or the hips. A thong bikini can look positively stunning and sexy on the right type of body, but it’s also true that for many women it might not be the best choice.

As its name suggests, the Eyelet Mesh thong is about half holes and half fabric (I’m not even actually sure, I’m thinking it’s more holes than fabric but hey the jury is out on this one). The top is as suggestive as it gets and the outline of your… ahem… little buds will almost always show. The bottom is a small thong, and a thorough shave (at least a very close trim) is mandatory, if you don’t want hairs sticking out!

What do most people have in mind when searching “skimpy thongs”? Better yet, I’ve come across all kinds of searches in my stats, stuff like women’s thongs, bikini pictures, lace thongs, tiny bikini, sheer bikini, bikini body, g string bikinis, g string pictures, micro g strings, and g string galleries, just to name a few. I think it’s because no matter what style the thong actually is, there’s one thing that never changes.
